ISRAEL FEARED THE LORD

«Thus Israel saw the great work which the Lord had done in Egypt; so the people feared the Lord, and believed the Lord and His servant Moses» (Exodus 14:31).

The persecution of Israel ended together with the time of grace for the Egyptians. Israel passed over the sea without getting their feet wet, while they could still hear the shouts of the army that was chasing them. When this wonderful experience of crossing the sea on a dry path opened for them by God Himself, Moses extended his hand and the waters that had stood like a great wall returned to their natural course. Not one Egyptian escaped of the whole vast army. They all perished in their obstinate desire to fulfill their own will and reject the ways of God. Pharaoh with his hardened heart tried to bring back a people who had been freed by the arm of the Omnipotent. He fought against a greater power than any human power, and he perished with his armies in the waters of the Red Sea.

You too, can see a path open through the Red Sea of your perplexities, and by your trust in God, you will pass through any crisis unharmed and victorious. You only need to believe it and march forward. God already decreed your liberty. The «Egyptians» that pursue you and your job, your family, your health, your legal status, your financial condition, or any other anguish you experience will be trapped behind you, and you will never see them again.

God’s purpose of developing the Israelites’ reverence and their respect for their leader, Moses, was fulfilled. When God’s justice defends you, it is easy to glorify God. But when you are in the middle of the anguish of an impossible situation, perhaps you may ask where He is. If you think He is far away, think again for a moment, and answer this question sincerely in your own heart: «Who moved?»

May your faith not be based on what you see. Whatever has happened in your past, leave it there where it belongs: it’s history. Pack up your guilt and your shame in a box, seal it with packing tape, make it watertight, and throw it into the depths of the sea, where it belongs. If the enemy comes to remind you of your past, remind him of your future. Let Jesus take care of your past; He is only concerned with how much you learned and what you are doing to better yourself. Once you have emptied your mind of your past, fill it with the precious promises of God.

Today, thank God and praise Him for all the times He’s covered you with His divine grace.
