“FordayandnightYourhandwasheavyuponme;myvitalitywasturnedintothedroughtofsummer» (Psalm 32:4).
The first step is washing the clay: water extracts the impurities until its clean. Then, its exposed to sunlight until it gets completely dry. After drying, it’s pressed and kneaded; if a good job isn’t done during this phase, the raw material may retain air bubbles and there is a risk that the piece might explode in the oven. After having finished the previous steps, the material is taken to the mill, where it turns into powder and pure water is added again. Later on, it’s cut into pieces according to the use the potter will make of it. Then its taken to the wheel to mold it. When the piece is finished, it’s taken to a dark place and once it gets is dry, the process ends with the decoration; this is when the craftsman enjoys painting colors and designs, feeling proud of his work.
Dear friend, the divine Craftsman yearns to make a masterpiece of immeasurable value out of you; the only thing He requires is for you to meekly accept the process of redemption. We are to be washed of our impurities, but the waters won’t drown us; they will only clean us. The heat of trials can be extremely harsh, but we won’t be burned; while we are in God’s loving hands, we’re assured that the work He began in us will be finished. Sometimes we literally feel ground up, without strength, dry, gaunt and overwhelmed; at that point, we should know with conviction that the rain of grace is about to be poured upon us.
After finishing His work, the heavenly Father will make you a witness of His marvelous works; you’ll be a living testimony of God’s transformation in your life, as something that’s real, authentic, not just heard of. You will see a coarse piece of clay become a praiseworthy jewel.
If you are in the Potter’s hands, endure with faith. Soon the end will come and you will be able to glorify your Creator.
