«For l, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, Fear not, I will help you’. Isaiah 41:13

There are interesting details on the globe. For instance, Cuba is called Isabel; the island shared by Haiti and Dominican Republic is called Spagnolla. But the globe is known for being the only document of its kind that contains the Latin phrase hic sunt dracones. Those words, which mean «here are dragons,» were placed on the map’s edge, where human exploration and knowledge ended and potential danger began.
It’s true that the unknown is usually enshrouded in a halo of mystery and darkness, and we perceive it to be full of dangers. How will I do as I start my new business? Will this new relationship help me grow? Will this job transition be beneficial for my family? And often, faced with the uncertainty entailed by those unknowns, fear rises within us, because we are entering an unexplored and unknown territory, full of big and dangerous «dragons»; and that fear makes us recoil and go back to what is known and habitual.
If you are among those who are afraid of the sign that reads «here are dragons,» you would do well to treasure this precious Bible promise: «Behold, all those who were incensed against you shall be ashamed and disgraced; they shall be as nothing, and those who strive with you shall perish. You shall seek them and not find them— those who contended with you. Those who war against you shall be as nothing, as a nonexistent thing. For l, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you’ » (Isaiah 41:11-13).
There are dragons, there are enemies, there are people against you, there are real dangers, but today the Lord tells you, «Fear not, I will help you.» When you come across a «Here are dragons,» moment in your life, you can confidently say, «l am not afraid because God will help me defeat them.»
