PERSEVERANCE
On July 16, 1950, the final of the World Cup in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) took place. The game was between the local selection as a favorite and the seasoned team of Uruguay, who took the pitch with all the odds against them. The Maracanã stadium was packed: 173,850 spectators anxiously watched the game. During the first half, Brazil suffocated its rival trying to put an end to the contest as soon as possible, but the goal was not there. Just at the start of the second half, Friaga put the Brazilian team ahead. The locals were caressing the cup! They thought it was only a matter of time before things happened in a logical way. However, they didn’t count on the claws of the charrüa team. In the sixty-sixth minute, Juan Alberto Schiaffino tied the game. The concern invaded the stands. But the worst came thirteen minutes later, when Alcides Ghiggia put Uruguay ahead and directed them toward the championship. The stadium went silent. No one could believe it!
In the game of life, we all have the same opportunities. So, today is the time for you to start building your success story. The following guidelines can help you meet your challenges:
- Never collapse before the start of the game. In the game of life, this is fatal.
- Don’t listen to the calls of those who predict your failure, even if they are great «analysts,» and «specialists.»
- Don’t get distracted from your responsibilities. Focus on what you have to do. Let others talk.
- Don’t expect «good refereeing’ in your life. Instead prepare yourself to overcome any kind of adverse circumstance. Lamenting helps no one.
- Don’t cheat in order to obtain the victory. Sooner or later life will make you pay for it.
- Do not consider yourself superior to your rival. Your mind will believe it and it will not answer you when you demand more.
- You need to learn to believe that you have great advantages in obtaining the victory.
- Trust in your work and training, and not so much in a stroke of luck. Success does not come by chance.
- Do not betray the confidence of your «team.» Eliminate vices and bad habits, such as watching pornography or addiction to social networks.
Remember that in order to achieve great victories, you have to believe in something supernatural that motivates you to make efforts that are out of the ordinary. And only God can guarantee you that.
Ask the Lord today to grant you the humility and courage to administer in the best way possible the gifts He has given you.
