Do you think you’re brave?
Bravery is a quality that’s used a lot to express the strength and risk of soldiers at war. Being brave is the opposite of being a coward.
In the Bible there are many people who were brave. Do you remember some of their names?
We find David facing Goliath, Joshua leading the children of Israel, the prophet Elijah facing the prophets of Baal, Daniel the lion’s den and many others.
However, all of them were men, do you remember any brave woman in the Bible?
Of course! Queen Esther, Deborah the judge, Jesus’s mother. . . But do you know the story of Zelophehad’s daughters?
They ‘are called Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.
Those five sisters were very brave in going to Moses to claim their inheritance as daughters of Zelophehad, Joseph’s great-great-grandson.
Zelophehad was a descendant of the tribe of Manasseh, Joseph’s son. Zelophehad had died while the children of Israel were in the desert.
And now that theY were going to divide the land of Canaan, his daughters claimed his part, because they didn’t have any male brothers.
Moses consulted with God before giving them a reply and God answered, ”The claim of the daughters of Zelophehad is legitimate.
You must give them a grant of (and along with their father’s relatives. Assign them the property that would have been given to their father” (you can read about it in Numbers 27:7).
God showed that girls were created with the same rights as boys.
Because of those young ladies’ courage, the children of Israel changed the law that said only men could inherit from their fathers.
In your Prayer Journal, ask Jesus to help you be brave to change things in your life which seem impossible for you to change.
