HEAVENLY BABIES

Q: In heaven, will people still have babies?

A: One day a group of men asked Jesus a difficult question. They intended it to make Him look foolish, but the situation ended up the other way around.  They reminded Christ of an ancient law Moses wrote requiring that when a man’s brother died and left a wife with no children, he was supposed to marry the grieving widow.

«Let’s say,» they suggested, «that the man had seven brothers, and one by one each died right after marrying the widow, leaving the next brother to take his place, exactly as Moses directed.» Wow. Talk about a streak of bad luck!

«Then,» they pressed, «after all the brothers had married the woman and died, she dies too. At the resurrection, whose wife will she be, since all seven were married to her?»

Jesus answered their question—and yours. «Are you not in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God?» He asked them in Mark 12:24. «When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven» (verse 25).

The answer to your question is no. But keep in mind another statement from God’s Holy Book. » ‘What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived’ [these] things God has prepared for those who love him» (1 Corinthians 2:9). As exciting as having a baby may be, heaven holds even greater mysteries—and joys.
