In September 2011, the first International Congress, » I Will Go, » of Adventist student missionaries took place at the Universidad Adventista del Plata in Argentina. A group of friends founded the Mission Institute of the Faculty of Health Sciences and that group grew into a large organization with different departments that took care of the various needs of the inhabitants of the area and neighboring cities. Each Wednesday, they met in groups to pray and plan the activities that would take place on Sabbath. In addition to several far-reaching events, both local and national, the Institute organized this congress to train student missionaries and start different projects. It was an idea that emerged from a few, but reached several thousand, which was copied in other universities in South America and gave recognition to the motto of the Adventist Church worldwide during the five-year plan of 2020—2025. As I participated in this Institute for several years when I was studying Medicine, I can testify that each activity was planned with much prayer. There was no fear of expressing great dreams and, with God’s help, making them come true.
God greatly blessed this initiative and the lives of all who participated in it in one way or another. You can look on its YouTube channel or Facebook page and see hundreds of stories and photos of the activities carried out, the various ministries, and the creativity with which they were addressed. From there, you can get many ideas about what you can do with your friends or with the group of young people in your church
Each participant has taken away not only the memory of the beautiful activities and the very dear people they met, but also the seed of the mission in their hearts and this phrase: «Above all, I am a missionary. »
I have many memories of that first congress, of the scene full of musicians and great choirs. However, there was a song that was sung in a very simple but powerful way, and it was this one. Its words reflect the deep message that where there seems to be no paths, God makes them.
Do not be afraid to dream big, to be a missionary. God will open paths, show you life, fullness, and joy.
