GOD KNOWS

«The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry» (Psalm 34:15).

“YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT A NEW DAY can bring,” writes Warren W. Wiersbe, «so keep your eyes open, and your ears attentive to what the Lord wants to communicate to you.»

Moses must have been very attentive when, while feeding his father-in-law Jethro’s sheep, he saw a bush that burned but was not consumed. I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn, Moses said to himself. He did not imagine that, as he approached the mysterious bush, he would have a personal encounter with «the Angel of the Lord» (Exodus 3:2, 3).

What strange things God sometimes does! At that time Moses was no longer a prince of Egypt. He was, so to speak, a fugitive from justice, who had fled to Midian after he had killed an Egyptian foreman who beat a Hebrew. He no longer had the same strength and surely not the same enthusiasm either. However, in God’s «timetable» the time for deliverance had come, and Moses had been chosen to fulfill this glorious mission.

What exactly was the message that the Angel of the Lord had for Moses? Let us read: «I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians» (w 7, 8).

Did you notice how personal that message is? «I have surely seen the oppression,» «[I] have heard their cry,» «I know their sorrows.» It is difficult to read this passage and not experience some emotion. God hears the cries of His children, and knows their sorrows! This is precisely the message of today’s Bible verse: «The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry.»

Are you going through tough trials right now? Have you cried out for help without you seeing any answers? Here is the Lord’s message to you: «I have seen your affliction,» «I have heard your cry,» «I have known your sorrows.»
Yes, God knows what you’re going through right now. At times it might seem that your prayers go unnoticed, but remember that «not one sincere prayer is lost. Amid the anthems of the celestial choir, God hears the cries of the weakest human being. «—Christ’s Object Lessons, ch. 14, p. 174.

He doesn’t just know; more importantly, at the time He deems appropriate, your deliverance will come. Why do we know that’s the case? Because «the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry» (Psalm 34:15).

Thank You, Lord, because You know my anguish.
Above all, thank You, because at the right time my deliverance will come.
