GOD IS STILL FAITHFUL

«Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered» (Psalm 32:1, NIV).

WHO IS MORE GRATEFUL when their debt is pardoned: someone who has been forgiven little or someone who has been forgiven much?
The answer is found in the following true-life story, as told by Mark Finley, an international speaker and author. It is the story of Steve and Kim, a couple who had problems. Kim, the wife, had a lover, and she was planning on leaving Steve when something unexpected happened: Steve won the lottery worth two million dollars.

The news put Kim in a bind: would she leave her millionaire husband; or would she end her illicit relationship with her lover? Kim decided to stay with her husband, but not leave her lover. Nevertheless, how would she do that? She decided to hire a hitman. It would only cost her five hundred dollars.

One day, as Kim was going over the details of her plan with her lover, her 21-year old son heard her telephone conversation. Not losing any time, he notified his father, Steve, who immediately contacted the police, and Kim ended up in jail for attempted homicide.
Then an unheard of thing happened. Steve withdrew the charges against Kim. Not only that; he also did everything he could to reduce her sentence, and in the end paid the bail that set her free. Finley says that Steve’s forgiveness not only broke Kim’s heart, but also gave her the courage she needed to end her affair and save her marriage.

How was Steve able to forgive so much? The woman wanted to kill him, to keep his money and continue with her affair! There is only one explanation: Steve forgave her so much because he loved her so much. On the other hand, Kim, who up to then had been blind to it, was able to know how much her husband loved her: with a love that manifested itself when she deserved it the least and needed it the most. That was how her love for her husband was renewed in her heart, because whoever has been forgiven much, loves much.
How much has God forgiven you? And how much do you love Him? He has forgiven me a lot. That is why today I invite you to join me in asking God to allow us to know more and more of His great love, which we do not deserve, but desperately need. A love that chose to sacrifice Himself rather than abandon us.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, because in spite of our unfaithfulness, and rebellion, You are still faithful.
Thank You because through your death on the cross
You granted us forgiveness we did not deserve, but truly needed.
