FORGIVEN BUT GUILTY

Q: I’m twelve years old and am kinda messed up. I know God forgives and all that, but I still feel guilty. Can you help?

A: Sometimes it’s hardest to forgive ourselves—we pay • for our mistakes for a long time after we make them. However, that doesn’t mean God has not forgiven us. A priest in the Philippines, a much-loved man of God, felt very guilty because of a secret sin he had committed many years before. He asked God again and again to forgive him, but still he felt guilty.

In his church was a woman who deeply loved God and claimed she talked to Him and He talked to her. The priest, how-ever, didn’t believe it. To test her he said, «The next time you talk to God, I want you to ask Him what sin your priest committed while he was in seminary.» The woman agreed.

A few days later the priest said, «Well, did you talk with God?

“Yes, I did,» she replied.

” And did you ask Him what sin I committed?

“Yes, I did. “Well, what did He say? “He said, ‘I don’t remember.’

» If you ask God to forgive you, He does! And then He forgets it
