DON’T CORRUPT YOURSELF

“But a man who commits adultery has no sense; whoever does so destroy himself. Blows and disgrace are his lot, and his shame will never be wiped away”. Proverbs 6:32-33

Love

Bob grew up in a Christian home full of love. From the time he was a child he displayed a great ability to study and get good grades in school. When he got to college, he didn’t have any trouble completing his academic requirements. However, he soon found himself surrounded by friends who were in the habit of partying on weekends. Whenever they invited him, he refused. But during the week the guys would tell of their great fun enlivened by alcohol and girls. One day, Bob accepted the invitation and went out partying with his friends. First, he tasted alcohol, whose euphoric effects were celebrated by his peers. But then came sex. That boy’s life would change forever. From that day on he would visit those places fairly regularly. Years later he had his college degree in his hands, a promising future and a great desire to succeed. But he had also contracted AIDS. His life crumbled down when he found out the terrible news.

What would he do with his life? He thought about committing suicide several times. He asked God to forgive him and made a determined decision: he would spend the rest of the time he had left in life to convince kids and young people to remain faithful to God and get away from any kind of bad habit. He used his salary to pay for many kids to go to school and bought them books and notebooks. But his life started to fade out little by little. Until one day he died.

Fornication and adultery are accepted in our culture as part of daily life. Doing so is even promoted by various TV programs, movies, popular songs and websites. But is very strange for someone to tell you the end of the story. Where are those kids who bragged about their sexual adventures as if they were imperial victories today? What’s become of their lives? The Bible says such practices corrupt a person and can get them in trouble that could cost their lives.

A safe way to stay away from fornication and adultery is avoiding people (friends or classmates) or influences that stimulate those kinds of practices (such as pornography). This type of decision is more important than you can imagine.

Ask the Lord today to help you use your whole life, including your body, to honor and glorify his name.
