Here’s a short event in the life of Christ that should bring a smile to the face of every junior.
People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. But Jesus called the children to him and said, «Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.»
Luke 18:15-17
Jesus once said, «If you’ve seen Me, you’ve seen the Father» (see John 14:9). So when we imagine that wonderful scene with Christ inviting the little children to His knee, we’re looking at a mirror image of what would happen if it were God the Father seated there. Kinda shoots a great big hole in the God-is-a-power to-be-feared concept, doesn’t it?
Children are pretty good judges of character. If kids found themselves attracted to Jesus, it was because they knew at first glance that here was a kind, gentleman whom they could trust. He had tons of stories to tell and always made people, young or old, feel good about themselves.
Would you like to sit on Jesus’ knee today? Then close your eyes, imagine the kindest, noblest man you can imagine, and then plunk yourself down. Tell Him your troubles. Tell Him your dreams. Tell Him a joke! He loves to listen to you. Why not take a few moments and talk to Him right now!
