«Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage do not be afraid, nor be dismayed,
for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go» (Joshua 1:9).
TODAY’S REFLECTION is dedicated to you who are a Christian young lady. You know, the youth that you have today brings with it opportunities and possibilities of unthinkable growth. In the end, youth is equal to life; it’s in your hands to take advantage of it or waste it.
God, from whose hand and creative mind we came, put in our nature all that was necessary to succeed in this world, and also that we might see our final destiny, which is getting our heavenly citizenship. No one should scorn your youth; above all, d01ft scorn it yourself. Joshua was placed by God before a great challenge when he was just a young man. However, the command was very clear: he had to guide the people of Israel to conquer the Promised Land. He was not alone in such an elevated assignment. He was supported at all times by the most wonderful promise that a human being could get: «No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life . . . I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you» (Joshua 1:5).
The young queen Esther faced men of power in her time with an expression of absolute trust in her Lord: «And if I perish, I perish!» (Esther 4:16). How encouraging, what a sublime privilege it’s that God Himself is near to someone who, in full youth and without mediators, offers him or her companionship, care, strength, and wisdom in order to fulfill a task.
The wonderful thing is that the miracle repeats itself in you, young woman. Today, youth is the force that moves the world. It’s by you and with you that God’s plan will be carried out for humanity. Young people are the warriors who will be at the forefront in the great controversy between good and evil; the success of this cosmic war will be determined by the strength of young people, the experience of adults, and the grace and power of God.
Every morning, present yourself before God in prayer and go out to fulfill your duties with the certainty that you have been chosen and called by Him. This call implies personal responsibility, effort without letting down your guard, trust in your abilities, and constant development of your potentialities. And above all, encourage one another, remembering that everything will be granted to those who trust in the Lord and work according to this faith.
