You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!» (Micah 7:19, NLT).
HAVE YOU HEARD of the expression weapons of mass destruction?’ What a terrifying idea, right? Nevertheless, they are really used and it is true that thousands and thousands of people in the world have lost their lives because of them. On August 6 and 9, 1945, two Japanese cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, experienced, respectively, the only two nuclear attacks in history. The first left 105,000 people dead; the second, 120,000, not to mention the wounded and those affected in other ways. This implies that there are people who dedicate time, resources, and energy to analyzing what the best way is to kill the greatest number of people in the least amount of time. It is incredible how they can join to make the same type of plans that the enemy makes.
Satan’s interest is the following: How many of God’s children can I successfully attack so that they are destroyed and deprived of eternal life? What weapons will be most efficient for me to achieve this goal? He has specialized in that: in analyzing how he can defeat the greatest number of human beings in this battle in which «we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places» (Ephesians 6:12). He uses «weapons of mass destruction» daily to kill the hopes of human beings. In order to design them, he bases his work on analyzing our weak points: pride, criticism, anger, adultery, the lowest of our sinful nature . . .
However, now comes the positive, the good news: Christ has not left us on our own. Just as the enemy’s weapons have extraordinary reach, the grace and salvation that our God offers us are for everyone, without exception. The-only thing we have to do is believe in Him and accept His sacrifice on the cross for us.
«And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly» (Romans 16:20). Until that moment arrives, let us remember that we have a powerful God at our side who frees us from the snares of the evil one. As far as it depends on us, let us not give any advantage to Satan in the war that he wages against human beings and against God.
