WATER WALKER

Mrs. Mable Hillock, a missionary to India, witnessed an event that only deepened her determination to spread the Word of God throughout that country.

It seems that a Yogi (someone who practices the art of Yoga) announced throughout Bombay that he was going to walk on water. Expensive tickets for the great event went on sale, and 500 people bought them.

On the promised day ticket holders crowded into an auditorium and sat looking down at an above-ground pool that had been prepared for the Yogi. He soon appeared to thunderous applause and warmed up the spectators by swallowing some broken glass followed by a plate of iron tacks. He finished his meal with a refreshing drink of nitric acid and then strolled barefooted across a bed of burning coals.

All eyes watched as he prepared for the main event—walking on water. The Yogi climbed over the side of the pool and stepped into the water. Notice the word «into.» He stood up to his neck in the pool and proceeded to amble slowly through the water to the other side.

What was going on? Anyone can do that! «What happened?» someone shouted. The Yogi shook his head. «I fell yesterday and broke my right thigh,» he said. «Now I can’t hold enough air in my body to make myself lighter than the water.»  Here’s the amazing part. No one complained! They all seemed satisfied with his answer and were happy to have witnessed the Yogi enjoying his strange meal and walking on burning coals.

Ignorance—that’s one of the greatest enemies of the good news of salvation. Remove ignorance, and Christianity begins to make a lot of sense.
