«So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide» (Genesis 22:14, NW).
GOD PUTS US to the test to know what the love profess to Him When we say we are Christians is made of. When I go through these types of trials, it helps me alot to read the Bible Accounts that have as their protagonists men and women who went through the burning fire of a difficult test and showed that they loved the Lord above everything else, because that is the example that I want to follow. Tell me,what is your love for God like? How much would you be able to give up for love of His name? Would you be willing to surrender the most valuable thing you have if He were to ask you? That was what Abraham did: he was willing to give up what he loved most because of his love for God and in obedience to a direct request from the Lord.
«God tested Abraham» (Genesis 22:1), asking him to take his only son Isaac, whom he loved very much—the gift of the promise, the fulfillment of a prophecy— and offer him up as a burnt offering on the mount that He Himself would show him (verse 2). Without doubting, Abraham obeyed that command that was so difficult to fulfill. Friend, not doubting God is an act of divine origin that expresses that a human being has given up pride in order to surrender to the will of the Father. Not doubting God indicates that there is a beautiful relationship of love between you and Him; not doubting God is being willing to surrender everything, even what you love the most, because your love for Him is deeper than any other love and more valuable than any other possession. Not doubting God is the fruit of a long walk with Him.
The heart of God was most certainly moved to the very core as He observed such an act of love and faith from Abraham. It was likely God Himself who sent a ram with His own hands as provision, «caught in a thicket by its horns» (verse 13). I know that today you have to give up or sacrifice something that is preventing you from seeing the glory of God in all its splendor, and I know that it is very difficult to do so. I remind you in the name of Jesus that» the Lord will provide» (verse 14). Get up and make your way to the place He has told you, and surrender what He is asking for.
