NEITHER GO TOO FAR NOR FALL SHORT

JUST AS IT IS BAD to eat in excess, it is detrimental for our bodies to lack the nutrients that they need to be healthy. Think, for example, that the-mind consumes a great many calories to carry out its processes. If it is not given the fuel it needs to function well, your mental processes will be in trouble. Thus, it is necessary to find a balance in diet: neither going too far, to the point of falling into addiction or getting sick, nor falling short, to the point of putting our physical being in danger. Even though the circumstances that surrounded the case were very different to ours, there is a passage in the Bible that reminds us of the importance of eating well. «Paul implored them all to take food, saying, ‘Today is the fourteenth day you have waited and continued without food, and eaten nothing.

Therefore, I urge you to take nourishment, for this is for your survival, since nota hair will fall from the head of any of you.’ And when he had said these things, he took bread and gave thanks to God in the presence of them all; and when he had broken it he began to eat. Then they were all encouraged, and also took food themselves» (Acts 27:33—36). For many of us today, it would be good for the apostle to remind us of this very important message.

Sometimes, because of the busy lives we lead, we do not dedicate the time necessary to prepare healthy meals and sit down to eat them, preferably in the company of our family. However, experts say that it is very important to give at least thirty minutes to each one of our meals. So, if you have the habit of eating little, by yourself, in a big hurry, anywhere and in any way, remember the advice of nutritionists.

Chewing slowly also contributes to reducing the stress of the day, having good digestion, secreting the ideal levels of saliva and gastric juices, eliminating the bacteria that comes in food, and having the nutrients be adequately absorbed by the body. All this is also very important for our health. M/hat do you think about keeping this in mind before breakfast, before lunch, and before dinner? Of course, do not forget to give thanks to the Creator for the food He puts before you. Enjoy!

“You have waited and continued without food, and eaten nothing. Therefore, I urge you to take nourishment, for this is for your survival»(Acts 27:33, 34)
