“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye”
(Psalm 32:8)
A COMMERCIAL AIRPLANE was forced to make an emergency landing a few minutes after takeoff, when one of its engines started smoking and, to the passengers’ horror, the smoke became fire. The expertise of pilots and land crew managed to avoid catastrophe. Further investigation discovered the cause of incident; a pebble had flown in the air and gotten into one of the engines. As you can see, sometimes little things can have tremendous consequences. I want to apply this to our Christian experience. Neglecting our friend. ship with God tends to start with little things, which sometimes go by unnoticed as we hurry up in life, but they can have eternal consequences. If we neglect daily and constant prayer, we are on our own and we are lost it the time to make decisions, no matter how unimportant they might seem
- If we pray, we can trust like children, who have the assurance that you are taken care of by their father. Talking daily with our heavenly Father is a habit we need to practice over and over until it becomes one of our daily needs, like eating and drinking.
- Daily reflection on a thought or Bible verse will act as a source of support when discouragement wants to take root in our hearts and minds. God’s Word nurtures the spirit, strengthens faith and reveals the Father’s will to us, allowing us to walk safely and confidently. When we neglect to read it, we begin to create our own survival theories and uncertainty becomes our frequent companion.
- At dawn and dusk, it’s good to lift your eyes up to heaven and give thanks. This small, simple act benefits the health of your body and soul. Everyday we have reasons to thank God: for all He gives us, for everything we have, for what we lack, for what makes us laugh and cry; God is present in everything.
If you put these three habits into practice, your flight will be safe and you will reach your destination: the heavenly homeland!
