WHEN IS YOUR BIRTHDAY?

“Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.” (Hebrews 10:35,36)

TODAY IS NOT my birthday. I celebrate my physical birth in June and my birth by baptism in August. But on a day like today , I celebrate because I was born again.

It was December 19, 2007, and I was traveling by car with Pastor Victor Peto from Bahia Blanca to Buenos Aires. We were returning after having fulfilled our mission in the south of Argentina. It Was five o’clock in the afternoon and we were already almost half-way through our 435-mile journey. Suddenly, an unexpected situation occurred: the vehicle we were traveling in crossed the lane, went over the curb of a small bridge with its wheels in the air, and after making several turns at the slope beside the lane, we were back in a normal position.

We exited the car on our own, at the same time as the first vehicles stopped to help. The car was unrecognizable, so the first question we heard was “And where are those who crashed?” “It was us,” we answered. Then we heard phrases such as, “If you don’t believe in God, you’ll have to believe nowt Or, “I don’t know when your birthdays are, but from now on celebrate this day”

The police claimed that the tracks of the right wheels were visible, but not those of the left wheels. If the car had fallen over, we would have embedded ourselves in the cement, but someone held up the vehicle. We were able to thank God and testify before them of the Lord’s love and power. We were taken to a hospital for some tests, and in a couple of hours we were released The next day, we were already back to work. One of the doctors who had treated us in Buenos Aires said he had never seen anyone have an accident like this and continue working the  following day. We were grateful, praising and serving God.

Life is full of miracles, from physical birth, to spiritual birth, and to God’s permanent. Many times that care is perceived to be explainable, and other times it is both inexplicable and unperceived.

Do not cease to trust today.

There is on eternal reward, and on that day,

you will stop having birthdays,

not because you are lifeless on earth,

but because you will live eternally in heaven.
