a. The Children of God
b. The children of evil
c. A plant
Did you know that the flour to make bread, pasta, or cereals comes from the same plant?
To make all these food? you need flour from a plant called «wheat.»
If you live in the country, you probably know it.
However, if you live in a city, you may have never seen an ear of wheat (you can search for an image on the Internet with the help of an adult).
In wheat fields, another plant always grows next to the wheat.
For a long time, they were called «tares» in most versions of the Bible. What are tares?
They are weeds that at first look a lot like wheat, but as they grow, the difference between the two plants becomes clear. Inside the tares grow some black seeds that are very poisonous.
If people eat them, they become intoxicated and get very sick.
Jesus told a very interesting parable that I encourage you to read in Matthew 13-24-30.
In this parable Jesus taught us that the wheat is those who obey God, and the tares are people who disobey God and don’t want anything to do with Him.
Both—the wheat and the tares, those who are obedient to God and those who are disobedient—have to live together in this world.
You may wonder why God doesn’t do anything about those who don’t love Him.
Jesus told His disciples that we must be patient until the day of the harvest, that is, the day in which Jesus will come a second time and separate the obedient from the disobedient.
Why do we have to wait until that day?
That’s because you and I don’t know who is «wheat» and who is «weeds.» Only Jesus knows and can take out the weeds without pulling out the wheat.
Only Jesus knows people’s heart. Only He can judge and take out the weeds. You and I can make a mistake in judging others, but not Jesus.
What are you, wheat or weeds? Find an image of both and draw a picture in your Prayer Journal.
