“Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him,
saying, “I am willing; be cleansed’”
(Matthew 8:3)
LACK OF PHYSICAL with other people can produce insecurity, fear and low self- esteem. Just as lack of food affects physical health, lack of caresses and hugs effects emotional and physical health. Doctor Lin Day affirms, “Physical contact is good medicine. It triggers the release of hormones that stimulate or moderate the response of chemical and enzymes that enable food absorption, as well as increasing immune cell activity, which helps the body defend itself giants pathogenic agents.
Giving love through a healthy and positive physical touch is something everyone can do it. It’s so good to know that when we touch someone with gestures of appreciation, they get chemical and hormonal reactions that make them feel generally well and their immune system improves. Physical contact reduces stress levels, satisfies our need for belonging and security, and increases the production of endorphins, which are analgesic substances produced by the brain to relieve pain.
People who are in a coma show positive reactions when their hands are held and they are caressed, which is evidence of the impact it makes on them. On the contrary, lack of caresses and healthy, positive touches can cause symptoms of neurosis as well as certain mental health disorders and physical illnesses.
Thanks God we all have been granted the ability to love; it’s a divine attribute the Lord shared with us when He created us in His image and likeness. Let us use this ability wisely. Your loved ones will not only be healthier, but they grill also see you as a source of well-being. Expressing
healing love is an art we all can learn. We can begin by accepting God’s love.
Allow Him to touch you and heal you every morning. Let those around you appreciate your company, and experience for yourself the joy of being someone special who makes others feel special.
Let us bear love as we go about.
