Jesus is King of the universe, and He has many names we can find in the Bible. To the Hebrews, a person’s name said something important about them.
For example, do you know what Rachel means? It means «sheep» because Rachel was a shepherdess.
Since Jesus is very important, He has many names that talk about what His life means. Before Jesus was born, the angel Gabriel told Mary to call Him Jesus, which means «Savior.» But Jesus has many other names such as Messiah, Son of Man, Lamb of Cod, Prince of Peace, and many more.
Many years before Jesus was born, the prophet called Him Emmanuel, which means «God with us.» Isaiah prophesied that Jesus would come be with us. That is what Emmanuel means. Jesus’s love for us made Him leave heaven and come live on Earth as a human being.
In your Prayer Journal write all the names you can remember for Jesus. Choose the one you like most and pray using that name.
