A boy stood on a beach gazing out across the ocean. In his imagination he saw himself guiding the first ship ever to China, where spices, ointments, gold, and silver waited. On his return everyone bowed to him and congratulated him for his great courage.
The boy grew and one day led three ships called the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria to a new world. Christopher Columbus dared to dream. Do you dream?
You should! In the quiet moments of your day or just before you drift to sleep at night, think long, long thoughts about what you’ll be in the years to come.
Dream of being a teacher or minister. In your imagination, see people seated before you waiting to hear words of wisdom, wanting to learn how to live better, healthier, happier.
Dream of being a doctor or nurse, bringing healing to hurting bodies in your town or on the far side of the world.
Dream of being a computer programmer, creating software that makes life better for your community.
Dream of being a builder or mechanic, firefighter or veterinarian, scientist or writer. Every dream can come true if you work hard toward your goals.
In all your planning, aim high. Don’t be satisfied with second best. And here’s the most important part. Don’t ever dream with-out God. «Higher than the highest human thought can reach is God’s ideal for His children» (Education, p. 18).
People without Jesus in their lives can only reach so far. But when you put God on your dream team, you can reach the stars—and beyond!
