For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed,
and hidden that will not be known”
(Matthew 10:26).
The tenth chapter of Matthew contains the second longest sermon of Jesus registered by Matthew: the instructions given to the twelve disciples whenHe sent them out to preach. It can be divided into three parts: (1) the need to go out and share the good news; (2) the requirements: travel in pairs, do not carry along burdens, depend on people’s hospitality, and do not stay in one place too long; (3) and the hostility that they would meet during their mission. Jesus encouraged them to fear God alone, and He told them ‘Do not fear.”
Fear poses more questions than it does answers: What if no one listens to me? fat if I fail? What if people don’t like me? What if I don’t know how to answer a question someone asks me? What if l run into someone who knows me from the past? What if people reject me?The best way to know the answers is to go on out and perform our task. Action is better than worry.
Make a list of your fears, go out and fulfill your mission, and you will confirm which of your fears actually become a reality. You might be surprised. God will show you that He is enough. Jesus promises that all manner of evil against us will sooner or later come to light. “[You] are set as watchmen, to warn men of their peril. The truth received from Christ must be imparted to all, freely and openly.“—The Desire of Ages, ch. 37, p. 322. Some people prefer to compromise rather than to maintain their principles.
«Jesus Himself never purchased peace by compromise. His heart over- flowed with love for the whole human race, but He was never indulgent to their sins. He was too much their friend to remain silent while they were pursuing a course that would ruin their souls—the souls He had purchased with His own blood. He labored that man should be true to himself, true to his higher and eternal interest. The servants of Christ are called to the same work, and they should beware lest, in seeking to prevent discord, they surrender the truth. They are to ‘follow after the things which make for peace’ (Romans 14:19); but real peace can never be secured by compromising principle. And no man can be true to principle without exciting opposition.”—ibid.
Ask God for courage to tell everyone that Jesus will soon come, and that He might lead you to people who are waiting to hear words of encouragement.
