«In God I have put my trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?» (Psalm 56:11).
«Rome became more and more exasperated by the attacks of Luther, and it was declared by some of his fanatical opponents, even by doctors in Catholic universities, that he who should kill the rebellious monk would be without sin. One day a stranger, with a pistol hidden under his cloak, approached the Reformer and inquired why he went thus alone. ‘I am in God ‘s hands,’ answered Luther. ‘He is my strength and my shield. What can man do unto me?’ Upon hearing these words, the stranger turned pale and fled away as from the presence of the angels of heaven.»—The Great Controversy, ch. 7, p. 140.
Cling to God, your only source of strength in every obstacle, and your fears will disappear. «They claim little, when they might claim much; for there is no limit to the promises of God.»—The Acts of the Apostles, ch. 55, p. 563.
The director of our program called me to her office one day: there was something I had said or done that I shouldn’t have. Before I went in, I prayed. She reproached me for having mentioned the name of God during my work hours, and for having shown a picture of Jesus in one of my audiovisual presentations. I apologized about the picture, and bravely told her, «As for my words, it is impossible not to mention God, because He is part of my daily life. I use expressions like ‘God willing’, or «with God’s help.» She accepted my innocence and my explanation. I left her office grateful for God’s power.
«Jesus is our friend; all heaven is interested in our welfare; and our anxiety and fear grieve the Holy Spirit of God. We should not indulge in [worry] that only frets and wears us, but does not help us to bear trials. No place should be given to that distrust of God which leads us to make a preparation against future want the chief pursuit of life, as though our happiness consisted in these earthly things. It is not the will of God that His people should be weighed down with care. But our Lord does not tell us that there are no dangers in our path. He does not propose to take His people out of the world of sin and evil, but He points us to a never-failing refuge.»—Patriarchs and Prophets, ch. 26, p. 294.
Allow God to be glorified in each one of your fears.
