«I WILL SEEK WHAT WAS LOST»
«I will seek what was lost and bring back what was driven away, bind up the broken and strengthen what was sick; . . . and feed them in judgment» (Ezekiel 34:16).
“PARENTS Who Never Stopped Searching» was the title The New York Times gave this amazing story. In 1997, the life of Guo Gangtang, a Chinese father, underwent a radical change: human traffickers kidnapped his two-year-old son. The most striking thing is that his suffering gave way to action.
Guo Gangtang took a motorcycle and went in search of his son, following every clue he found along the way, even if it meant he had to go across China. During his journey, he wore out ten motorcycles, had accidents, and resisted several robbery attempts, but nothing discouraged him from his goal: finding his son.
Mr. Gangtang not only went in search of his offspring, but also actively took part in helping other parents who were going through the same tragedy. Due to his help, at least seven families were able to be reunited with their children. Gangtang continued to travel through China, and after riding through more than twenty regions of the giant Asian country during twenty-four years of tireless searching, he finally found his son. «Now that I’ve found my son, only happiness is left,» he said tearfully.
Just like Gangtang, our heavenly Father has also gone through great lengths to find His lost children. Jesus went into action: He left heaven, and regardless of the fact that He was equal to God, He made Himself like us, walking down the dusty roads of this planet with a specific goal: to find the lost. I am moved by the way in which the prophet Ezekiel presents this truth: «l will seek what was lost and bring back what was driven away, bind up the broken and strengthen what was sick; . . . and feed them in judgment» (Ezekiel 34:16). And nothing discouraged Him from His goal.
Which sheep is God searching for? The healthy ones? Those who produce plenty of wool? He seeks those that are lost, driven away, broken, and weak. He goes in search of those driven away from the Father by the wicked, those who are marginalized, those whose souls are broken, those who have no strength to return … No doubt He is searching for us!
God is the Father who never grows weary of going in search of each of His children. He’s the Father mentioned in the «Newspaper of newspapers:» the Bible.
