«So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation » (Hebrews 9:28).
DID YOU KNOW that today’s verse is the only passage in the Bible that talks about the two comings of Jesus? How wonderful!
At His first coming, He came to bear the sins of many, that is, of all. The Bible says that the Father sent the Son, that He offered Himself, and that He was imprisoned, misjudged, crucified, and died at the hands of the ungodly and that He will appear, become visible.
At the Second Coming, He will appear with no relation to sin to save those who await Him. By the way, this is also the only text in which the adjective «second» is used to refer to the coming of Christ in power and glory.
Christ’s voluntary offering on Calvary and His entry into heaven were unique acts. One made the other possible. The sacrifice allowed Him to enter heaven as a Mediator, not by virtue of other people’s blood but by His own and both will allow Him to return to complete salvation.
July 20, 2006, was the date when some thought that life on our planet could undergo a big change, The proposal was a bit unusual: to try to change the axis of the earth by having everyone on the planet jump at the same time. That is why the project for that day was called World Jump Day, that is, the day for a massive and global leap.
For this «big leap» to give the supposed expected results, some six hundred million people from the West were to jump at the same time. Thus, with this «big leap,» the organizers aimed to curb global warming and improve the climate of the entire planet.
This human plan was not what will definitely solve our problems, nor will there be any other human plan that will. Jesus’s great leap from heaven to earth makes our great leap from earth to heaven possible.
He wants to save everyone.
But He will only save those who await Him.
That will be the day of our great leap from our miserable home of sin to our wonderful palace of glory.
Let us daily and faithfully train for the big and definitive jump.
