Underline the correct answer
a. Isaiah’s father
b. Isaiac
c. Jeremiah’s son
Did you know that Maher-shalal-hash- baz is the longest name in the Bible?
This name has eighteen letters and appears in the book of Isaiah. You can find it in today’s verse.
Do you know what the name means2 Maher-shalal-hash-baz is a Hebrew name that means «there will soon be looting and stealing” (ICB).
Who was Maher-shalal-hash-baz? God gave that name to that prophet lsaiah‘s second son before he was born!
Why did God give Isaiah’s second son that name? Because that child, before his birth, was going to demonstrate that God always fulfills His prophecies.
What prophet had a message from God to give to the people* Isaiah, the father of Maher-shalal-hash-baz, had to tell people that the cities of Damascus and Samaria were going to be conquered by Assyria very soon. That was what Maher-shalal-hash-baz meant.
If someone told you that two cities you know are going to be destroyed by another country, would you believe it2 Probably not. Most likely, the people of those cities did not believe it either. Therefore, God used that boy named Maher-shalal-hash-baz to remind the people that Isaiah’s messages were to be fulfilled before that child reached one year of age.
Do you think Isaiah’s prophecy was fulfilled? Of course it was. The prophecies of God are always fulfilled.
Do you know of any Bible prophecy that has already been fulfilled? Write it in your Prayer Journal.
