Have you ever felt so sad that you couldn’t stop crying?
Sometimes you may have felt very sad about something happening to you that seems to have no solution, but I have to tell you that you’re not alone.
Jesus loves you and will always be with you. Jesus does not like to see you crying or suffering. He always takes care of you and likes you to tell Him about all of your problems.
In the Bible there is a prophet who was very sad and who wrote the saddest book in the whole Bible and Jesus listened to him.
Do you know what book it is? It’s found between the books of Jeremiah and Ezekiel. Look it up in your Bible. It’s called Lamentations.
Do you know what this book is about? It deals with laments; in other words, the author cries and complains about how badly the city of Jerusalem was doing.
Do you want to know who wrote Lamentations? Jeremiah wrote it, a prophet who lived in Jerusalem when a king of Babylon invaded it, destroyed it and took many Hebrews, like Daniel and his friends, as prisoners.
Jeremiah was very sad to see the situation in which those who had survived the Babylonian attack found themselves, including hunger and thirst. Jeremiah was one of the few who stayed in the city that was destroyed, without walls and without doors to protect it from neighboring people.
Jeremiah knew that God had allowed that situation because the people had forgotten Him, but he also knew that God always forgives us when we ask for forgiveness, because Jesus loves us and continues to be good even though we are not.
