«I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye» (Psalm 32:8).
IN THE WORD OF GOD, we find an appeal to older women to teach young people. I would like to think that the term «older women» does not refer only to older people; I believe it also includes those who, although they are still young, have reached a maturity not only physical, but also spiritual and emotional. The appeal says, «The older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things—that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed» (Titus 2:3-5).
«Teachers of good things,» says the Bible text; if when teaching other women, we could say, as the apostle Paul also said, «imitate me,» we would be blessed. The spiritual and emotional maturity that’s achieved by having courage to give up everything that hinders, is what allows us to be real witnesses of Christ. For those who see us, witnessing by itself, is a source of a learning experience. us.
Spiritual learning is never an accomplished goal as it continues throughout life. Learning to be better and at the same time having the experience and knowledge to teach those who come after us isn’t just a privilege, it’s also a duty that we will have to account for. God calls us to be «teachers of good things» (Titus 2:3). There is a popular saying that goes: «Practice makes the teacher,» and in many ways it’s true. Doing good as a daily practice, wherever we are, will make those good worlds show an authentic life without pretense that has great educational power. Pretending to be good without being good is exhausting and useless, and it makes us hypocrites, something that God dislikes. Let us not give the wrong message.
Titus ended up saying, «That the word of God may not be blasphemed.» Dear friend, we should develop a spiritual conscience that allows us to realize that everything we do and say gives witness of the gospel.
The Bible calls us to pray and watch, to always be in connection with God, so He can be the One who works through us. This way, our influence will be that of a teacher for young people who need Christian models. Do you accept the challenge?
