«You shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God has commanded you» (Deuteronomy 5:33).
A SENSE OF DIRECTION is one of the wonders that God gave us when He created us. It’s even an ability that plants have to guide themselves toward the sun to receive its rays and thus, grow and develop. It the same with animals who are able to return to their usual locations, thanks to their sense of direction, even when they are very far away from them. How wonderful is God’s creation!
Human beings have an incredibly perfect spatial orientation, unless one of our senses is damaged. However, today, I want to talk about the sense of moral, ethical, and spiritual orientation; it’s this type of direction that gives life to what we do and are. It has to do with values, habits, and beliefs that guide our daily activities.
There are many men and women who go through life without finding a meaning for their existence; boredom, apathy, and laziness are the constants that determine their everyday lives. Some people are sure that humanity is lost in its own dehumanization. What a sad condition! We women who have been blessed with motherhood, as well as those who are set up as leaders for girls and young women, have the responsibility to be the compass that sets the course for generations who live in the most absolute confusion and who, nevertheless, are longing to find a lodestar for their lives.
Let us thank Jesus as we follow the footprints that His bleeding feet left as He walked toward Calvary. In His Word, we read: «You shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess» (Deuteronomy 5:33).
God’s women’s daily task should be to seek direction in Christ to find the path in the midst of the steep, dark, and unknown road; this way, we will be ready to walk safely and leave clear, definite, and constant footprints for the women who come after us. May our «Yes» be «Yes» and our «No,» «No» (Matthew 5:37).
May also our behavior always be guided by a «thus says the Lord.» God’s commands are not moved by winds of doctrine, proverbs, and fashions that sometimes seem tempting, but however contrary and opposed to the path that leads us to the heavenly homeland.
Let us walk together with Jesus, and when we feel far away, let us run again to cling to His hand.
