«Therefore I will look to the Lord;
I will wait for the God of my salvation;
my God will hear me»
(Micah 7:7).
IT WAS SAD to hear the story of a young lady who lost her life in one of the many challenges and games that today’s young people propose to be noticed. Their slogan is that life is a burden that isn’t worth it. For them provoked death is the false door through which they enter to avoid lack of hope.
The loss of hope is like a dark, long tunnel where many young people, who have not found or have lost the purpose of life go through. In a materialistic and consumeristic society like ours, many young people are urged to think that the acquisition of goods will give meaning to their lives; this is one of the reasons they feel they are nothing. They don’t know how to figure their real value.
An individual who has dreams, hopes, plans, and projects; who works and tries to achieve them; who discovers his or her talents, skills, and gifts; and who puts them into the service of God and others will have an endless source of hope. Young men and women who live in boredom, laziness, and idleness will end up not valuing their lives and those of others. Where will they go without hope?
Today is the time to recover hope and to help others also to get it since our redemption is closer every day. We Christian mothers have the duty and responsibly to awake in our children the urgency of the time in which we live and with prayer and determination make sure our sons and daughters reach God’s ideal in their earthly lives so they can be heirs of the heavenly homeland.
Mothers, let us encourage our children and young people to achieve their objectives; let us dream with them about what they can become with GodS help; let us give them hope by making them know each day that they are children of God, reminding them that their final destiny was determined in heaven before their birth. Let us assure them that they can accept failures without giving in, and that obstacles become steps to climb up the height of success until we reach heaven.
Today is a good day to allow your children to go to school, university, or work hoping for the splendid future that awaits them.
