A doctrine is a teaching, something that is taught.
As you know, there are teachings that are good and wholesome, but there are also teachings that are harmful and bad.
In the Bible there are many characters who taught others to live the way God wants and to say «no» to all those things that separate us from Jesus.
One of those biblical characters who taught others to live according to the teachings of Jesus was the apostle Paul.
One day, the apostle Paul wrote to his friend Titus, who took care of the churches on the island of Crete, in Greece. With that letter he wanted to help Titus educate others, teaching them healthy doctrines, or lessons.
Apparently, the inhabitants of Crete were lazy, greedy, and liars, so they needed Titus to help them say «no» and change their bad habits. In his letter, Paul tells Titus how to teach Cretans to be good Christians who set an example for others.
Many of the members of the Cretan church were letting themselves be influenced by wrong doctrines that were being taught by false teachers. That produced fights and divisions in the church. That’s why they needed the healthy, good teachings of Jesus’s love to live and behave differently.
Write an example of a doctrine in your Prayer Journal. Then share it with a friend.
