«The Lord directs our steps, so why try to understand everything along the way?» (Proverbs 20:24, NLT).
John was a young man who had always been surrounded by bad influences and, at one point in his life, began to live a life of crime and robberies. The easy money and the skill to take what was not his was exciting. But one day, he passed by a car and saw inside a strange black book with gleaming gold pages. «That book must be important, it looks very expensive,» he thought to himself. So he did not hesitate to break the glass of one of the windows with a rock and took the mysterious book. When he got home, he realized that it was a Bible and, eventually, he began to read it as best he could. The skilled thief was touched by the reading of God’s Word and asked God to change his life. Thats how the Lord led him to an Adventist church near his home. There, he learned the Christian doctrines and some time later, he was baptized.
Years later, John met Daniel, a faithful Christian who liked to preach the gospel. When John took out his Bible, Daniel commented: «Wow, what a beautiful Bible. It looks like one I had a long time ago.»
«This Bible is very special to me. It led me to God,» answered John.
Then, Daniel took the book, turned it over and saw his name on the front pages. «But it’s my Bible! les got my name! Someone stole it from my car several years ago!» said Daniel. «Yes, brother. I was the one who stole this Bible from a vehicle without knowing what kind of book it was. But this Book changed my life,» acknowledged John. Both believers embraced each other amazed at how the Lord had worked to transform a life. The Bible has the power to change all sorts of lives. Those who read it cannot remain indifferent to it, because as God promised: «It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it» (Isaiah 55:11, NLT).
You too can be transformed by the power of God by reading the Bible. Don’t miss that great opportunity today!
