Do not be anxious for anything; rather, in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4: 6, NASB.
Fressia, a young lawyer, suddenly received the news: «You have just been transferred to another department»: So she went to her new boss’s office to request the relevant instructions for the performance of her new position. What he found was difficult to fit in: the woman who was to be his boss was arrogant, haughty, bitter and had a totally inappropriate attitude. Fressia realized, on the first contact with her, that it was not going to be easy. Yet there he was, and there was nothing he could do to change the situation.
As time went by, nothing got better; in fact, everything got worse, to the point that Fressia felt that going to work every morning had become a burden. The work environment, far from being a delight, was a sadness. But Fressia was a young woman of prayer, an Adventist committed to Jesus, and she turned her anxiety on him. He prayed fervently for the situation, asking the Lord to show him within ten days if he should go and seek new work horizons, or if, on the contrary, he should stay. However, at the end of the ten days, what he had received from God was silence. Fressia was not sure what to do; he could only realize that he was wearing down more and more mentally, emotionally and professionally.
So more than a month went by, until she herself wanted to end the tension and wrote her resignation letter. Determined to hand it over to the Chief of Staff, Fressia crossed the hall. I think I should pray one last time before I surrender my resignation, he thought. And he diverted to the bathroom for one last prayer before burning the ships. Lord, if it is your will, do something so that I don’t have to leave this company. I want to stay. She left the bathroom to continue on her way to the Chief of Staff and, just at that moment, a colleague was looking for her to tell her the latest news from the firm: «Your boss has just resigned at this moment. He leaves the company ».
Fressia continues to work in the same place, and again with the satisfaction and peace before her change of position. God made His purpose clear to a faithful daughter who seeks Him in prayer. Therefore, do not stop looking for it.
