«When a man’s ways please the Lord, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him» (Proverbs 16:7).
My arrival at the airport was somewhat untimely. I barely had time to tag my luggage and go to the boarding area. However, in my haste and confusion, I went through a door that took me farther away from the gate where the plane would take off. There, I had to go through the dreaded checkpoint, where security employees tend to be rigorous. After passing through the metal detector, a young inspector came up to me and spoke to me in a very harsh tone: «I’m going to do a special check on your suitcase.»
«Sure, there it is,» I answered.
«Open it, please,» he continued with a menacing face.
Once opened, he inspected it, rummaging through it in a hasty fashion. Suddenly, he came upon my Bible. He lifted it slowly and stared at it. His facial expression changed immediately. His eyes looked glassy. That arrogant security officer now looked like a bewildered child. He stared at me and asked me in a respectful tone:
What is your religion?»
«I’m a Seventh-day Adventist,» I answered.
He was silent, looked to the ground, and said with deep sadness: «I attended that church when I was a civilian, but my life has changed so much now.»
«Young man, it’s never too late to return to God! The Lord forgives all your sins! Seek Him!» I assured him while looking into his eyes.
«Yes, He will forgive me, won’t He?» asked the young man.
«Of course He will! He’s waiting for you!»
I placed my hand on his shoulder and said goodbye with a smile. Moments later, I got on the plane. During the flight, I began to think about what could have happened to that young man to stray away from God. I don’t know. All I know is that if he decided to seek the Lord, he must have found Him. As today’s verse states: ‘When a man’s ways please the Lord, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.» In other words, nothing can prevent you from following the path of God, not even those who oppose you.
If you have strayed from God and failed Him, now is the time to reestablish your connection with Him. The Lord will resolve any conflict that prevents you from doing so. It’s never too late to seek God. Don’t forget, He is always waiting for you.
