The heart of the wise teaches his mouth and adds learning to his lips» (Proverbs 16:23).
Raul Rojas was born in 1955 in Mexico City. Since childhood he became interested in the study of science. He was trained in the area of mathematics at the National Polytechnic Institute in the Mexican capital. Subsequently, he obtained doctorates in economics and information technology from the Free University of Berlin (Germany). His brilliant career allowed him to be a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences and to obtain the gold medal in science for Mexico City. In addition, Rojas was awarded several international awards, including the European Software Award or the Wolfgang von Kempelen Prize in the history of information techno low. In 2007, the professor demonstrated in the German capital the famous Spirit of Berlin, an autonomous car run entirely by computers. The minivan, equipped with cameras and sensors, could advance autonomously or adapt for conventional driving at the touch of a button. Rojas didn’t take long to design a new method: driving the vehicle via an iPhone. «In twenty years,» says the scholar, «we will have an operating system that can turn the car into an autonomous platform. In the future, automobiles will be intelligent taxis driving through the street without a driver»—El Pais, November 29, 2014.
On March 23, 2015, Raul Rojas was decorated by the Union of German Universities as the university professor of the year. According to this institution, Rojas is not only brilliant in scientific research, but also in the teaching of it. This man’s work has inspired many of his students in the development of science. The professor assures that his philosophy has always been that students learn more by working as a team. Students learn from other students and the teacher is a kind of catalyst.
Teaching is one of the great methods of learning. Yes, if you want to learn something very well, then you must teach it to someone else. Transmitting what you I mow allows you to continue the cycle of knowledge: understand-explain-teach-apply. So the great sages are brilliant teachers. It is not enough to understand a course and prove it by passing an exam. If you want to learn more, you have to get others to understand what you know, and then apply the knowledge to practical life.
You, too, can be a great receiver and transmitter of knowledge in the hands of God. Ask Him today to help you work harder in the way you approach the world of knowledge.
