I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent» (Luke 4:43).
Do you know why you were born?
«Well,» you say, «my mom and dad wanted a kid, and here I am!» Good answer. But there’s more.
My dad has home movies of me when I was just a week old. My mom, young and beautiful, is carrying me out of the Adventist hospital in Seoul, Korea, wrapped in white baby blankets. I look really, really ugly with a wrinkled face and squinty eyes. My hair is going every which way, and when I yawn, you won’t see a tooth in sight! Strange baby.
Now, fifty years later, I can say without reservation that I know exactly why I was born—so I could write and edit this book for you. It was so I could write other books, such as the Shadow Creek Ranch series and Echoing God’s Love. Oh yes, it was also so I could marry my wife, Dorinda, live in West Virginia, and watch the birds munching sunflower seeds at our backyard feeder. In other words, I was born in order to do what I do.
«Hey,» you say, «I thought we were born to follow some secret plan that God has for our lives.» Well, it’s not all that secret. God’s plan is that we be saved. As long as what you do doesn’t interfere with that goal, you’re following God’s plan perfectly.
Simple, huh?
So spend today being what God meant you to be. Enjoy!
