«Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?» JEREMIAH 32:27, NKJV
A few years back I went on a mission trip to Venezuela to build a cafeteria on the campus of a small school in a remote part of the country. The day we arrived into Caracas was Election Day; a new president had just been elected, President Hugo Chavez. We had flight delays as well as challenges in bringing in hundreds of Bibles we had brought with us to give away. I spoke with the customs officers at the airport and told them why we were bringing hundreds of Bibles into the country—hoping to convince them not to charge us a customs fee. We were thankful to God when they finally allowed us in without charging us. Next, we took another flight to a city called Ciudad Bolivar, deep in the tropical jungle. The city lies at the edge of an enormous river called the Rio Orinoco, where the river narrows to «only» one mile wide. During the rainy season it can swell up to fourteen miles wide! The location we’d work in was very rustic.
There was no electricity or running water. Once a day in the evening for an hour or so, the locals would turn on a generator to give everyone a chance to do a few «electric» things. If you didn’t want to bathe in the river, during this hour you could run a water pump and get a cold shower. I chose the cold shower since I had been told there were piranhas in the river. Getting there was not easy, and being there was not easy, but we were so happy to be there working for these kind people, who were excited that we were there to help them.
While we each struggle with challenges, I am comforted knowing that there is nothing God can’t do. Nothing is impossible for HIM! If we align ourselves with GOD, it won’t matter where you are or what you’re doing; GOD will give you the strength to do amazing things if you let Him.
